Letter from the President:

“Serving as President of the Gamma Xi chapter has truly been an immense period of growth as a leader and discovery. It was truly amazing taking on such an instrumental role within the fraternity. Being President allowed me to discover how to make a decision that benefits an entire organization. Each day presented new challenges and issues that produced outcomes that never could have been predicted beforehand. I also learned how to figure out where each person's strengths may lie within my incredibly talented Executive Committee and how to efficiently delegate tasks according to each person's capabilities.

Since I am only a sophomore, I will be able to see these new ideas hopefully come to fruition during my time as a brother. No successful organization can stay stationary; it must constantly be looking for ways to progress forward. I have been able to implement new ideas and plant seeds for other future innovative changes. Therefore, I encouraged my team to create ways to make our chapter more efficient. One such idea was the implementation of committees. The success rate thus far on this initiative has proven that committees are more successful than our previous ways of getting brothers more involved in aspects of the fraternity that they are passionate about. After bouncing this idea off during Jack's term as President and enacting it during mine, I was able to truly see the impacts that making a seemingly small, but structurally large, decision that something like this can entail. I am so excited for the future of the Gamma Xi chapter. I am forever grateful to my fellow brothers for affording me this incredible opportunity to serve as President of our chapter, and I look forward to ways I can continue to make a positive impact in the future of our chapter!”

Letter from the Senior Vice President:

“It was such an honor to serve as Senior Vice President this term, and I'm eternally grateful to the Gamma Xi chapter for giving me the opportunity to give back to the chapter in a way I never thought I'd be able to. Recruitment week is an opportunity for brothers and prospectives alike to come together in support of our amazing organization, and it is during this one week that we are reminded of our organization's prestige -- through talking about our own experiences in DSP with prospectives, we're reminded of how far we've come since we were in their shoes and how big of a role pledging and being in DSP played in that. In the position, I was responsible for planning a whole week's worth of networking and professional development events, but it was work that didn't feel like work to me! I'm not exaggerating when I say serving as SVP was unlike any other leadership experience I've had in the past.

The role required me to get comfortable communicating with an entire chapter of brothers and 40+ prospectives, managing both the front-end and back-end of event planning, and finding new ways for recruitment to add value to our members and future members. It was an incredible learning experience for me, and in the process, I fell in love with event planning and all the stress that came with it. I'd encourage anyone to run for the position because it really allows you to see DSP in a different light. It's easy to forget, after being a brother for a while, that we're part of a fraternity whose membership is coveted by many, and seeing how excited prospectives are about joining DSP reignites some of that pride, and it's such a great feeling! I hope that we continue to make recruitment a valuable experience for both our brothers and prospectives, and I'm so excited to see our presence on campus continue to grow.”

Letter from the Pledge Educator:

“My term as Pledge Educator has been one of many mistakes and failures, but also one of significant growth for both myself and the pledges. When I first took on this position last term, I was excited at the possibility of change. As Chancellor, I wanted to help the chapter become objective, organized, and unified. As Pledge Educator, I wanted to help grow members of DSP that not only represented our core values, but members that would continue to help the chapter prosper long after my graduation.

I could never have guessed just how many pitfalls I would face, even with all my planning. I made so many mistakes, most memorably, blowing up forty balloons at six in the morning for BroGames only to have them all pop when I walked out the door or using half of my total meal points to pay for the big/little socials.

But each and every mistake was coupled with an equally fun or momentous occasion. I will never forget how proud I was of my pledges when I saw them present their case studies in front of the chapter or seeing their dance at BroGames.

Every mistake, every time I felt overwhelmed, every moment when I doubted my ability to be a good Pledge Educator was worth the experience of being able to see this pledge class go from random, awkward strangers to a close knit group of friends who struggled together, toiled together, and finally, prevailed together. I will forever be grateful for this opportunity I was given by the chapter and will do my absolute best to continue to give back to a group of people that has given me so much.

Thank you so much Noah and Margaux. I can’t even put into words how much you both helped me in your own individual ways. Thank you Jordan for being an amazing president. I am constantly amazed by your drive, dedication, and compassion that you give to each and every person you talk to. Lastly, to my pledges, thanks for letting me be your pledge mom for the last couple of weeks. I couldn't have asked for a better pledge class.”
