Term in Review - Alpha Rho

Written by: Anna Mount

Transitioning to Normalcy

Winter term was another transition period for Gamma Xi. With the first few weeks of classes online, the Brothers chose to hold recruitment online once again. Despite some initial setbacks, we were able to another successful recruitment week and meet so many spectacular individuals. Recently, our Chapter was lucky enough to officially welcome newest pledge class, the Alpha Rho class, as part of the Brotherhood!

Congratulations again to the Alpha Rhos! We can’t wait to see what you accomplish in the coming years!

Letter from the President

Just wanted to start by saying thank you to Gamma Xi for trusting me with the position of chapter president for this last term. I will never forget these last few months and greatly appreciate all the growth this role has given me. It was difficult to navigate some of the impromptu problems we had but with my amazing EC, we were able to navigate it wonderfully.

The main goal of this quarter was to continue the transition back into in-person gatherings, meetings, and events that the last EC started so well. We wanted to get the chapter back to its pre-COVID state while adapting some changes to adapt to this new age. We struggled at first navigating the school’s COVID-19 guidelines and regulations but we were able to create online recruitment that worked extremely well.

The term will end with a diverse group of newly initiated brothers, the Alpha Rho’s, joining our chapter. They bring a fresh and new perspective to the chapter and will be the future of our success. We had some great professional, social, and community service events and I feel as though the chapter is closer than ever.

This term was long and difficult but also extremely rewarding. I could not have done it without my great executive committee supporting me. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for Gamma Xi and what direction our next president takes us.

Letter from the Senior Vice President

I am so happy to have served on Big 3 not only as Senior Vice President but with my 2 best friends. Ever since joining the brotherhood, I knew I wanted to give back to the chapter and make a lasting impact. There was no other better way than being the person to bring in other bright new faces and really showcasing DSP to the school with how I knew it. Delta Sigma Pi has really made my college experience and the family I have made in the chapter will forever carry on into my future.

My goal of recruitment was to show prospects the special bond that DSP created and how the energy of such a supportive environment really pushes people positively to do better and continue to want to learn. The theme “Sky’s the Limit” really resonated with my goal: whereas scary and confusing the business world may seem, with the right help and guidance, anything is reachable and the world is what you make of it. There was initial conflict when recruitment was going to happen because of school regulations and COVID. The process had to be pushed back almost a full month and stayed virtual as a precaution on the rising COVID rates. Although this was not something we planned for, with the help of my amazing EC team from Jolyn as VP Marketing making beautiful infographics and Jasmine as VP Operations keeping us updated, we really pulled everything together even with the small inconveniences. With the transition back to in-person, I feel we really succeeded with our recruitment and the new pledge class has exceeded our expectations. This term has fulfilled my DSP goals and I hope to continue helping future brothers to experience the same joys I get from being here. I am so happy to have done the role for the chapter and I want to thank everyone who believed in me. So proud of the Alpha Rho’s and welcome to the brotherhood!

Letter from the Pledge Educator

First and foremost, thank you to the Gamma Xi chapter for giving me the opportunity and faith to serve as the VP of Pledge Education for the Spring 2022 term. This experience has been extremely challenging yet rewarding and I have thoroughly enjoyed giving back to the organization that has had such a positive impact on my college experience. Throughout my time in Delta Sigma Pi, I have always wanted to leave a lasting impact chapter, and becoming the Pledge Educator for the Alpha Rho’s was the perfect opportunity to do so.

Leading up to the pledge process, the vision of this term was to focus on professionality while maintaining a necessary balance with social activities to seamlessly integrate the Alpha Rho Pledge Class into the Gamma Xi chapter. With my amazing pledge team of Olivia and Ryan, we created a comprehensive pledge program that allowed us to reflect on our own experiences in professional development and teach the pledges essential skills that they can apply in their own further endeavors. Additionally, we aimed to foster an environment that balanced work and play through various bonding activities and social events with the chapter in order to maintain and nurture friendships that will last a lifetime.

To Olivia and Ryan, thank you both for the countless hours, meetings, and devotion to helping make this pledge program what it was. Olivia and Ryan served as two extremely hard-working individuals that truly helped to guide me through difficult decisions, manage different tasks and my workload, and served as a valuable resource for not only myself but also the Alpha Rho Pledge Class. I could not have asked for a better team to navigate through this experience with. A special thanks to Karim and the entire Executive Committee for staying a part of the whole journey behind the scenes and helping to advise throughout the pledge process!

To the Alpha Rho’s, thank you for always keeping me on my toes and pushing me to not only be a better pledge educator, but also a better person. I am grateful to have served as your pledge educator and am even more proud of the accomplishments you all have made to become brothers of this chapter. The pledge process is no easy feat – all the time, effort, and energy you all have put in has not gone unnoticed and we are excited to see what the future holds for each of you!
