Term in Review - Alpha Pi

Back in Person, Back to Business

The Gamma Xi chapter has flourished being back in person, and benefited greatly from being back on campus. Although we had to adjust to the fast paced environment of being back in person, we had one of our most successful recruitments with a turn out of about 100 people. This was extremely exciting as a chapter to see how many people were interested in what Delta Sigma Pi was all about even right as we were all adjusting to being back in person. It was encouraging to see so many First and Second year students stepping out of their comfort zones and taking the leap towards joining us for recruitment!

From this recruitment, 16 bright and determined individuals were chosen to make up the Alpha Pi Pledge class. We are so excited about what the newest pledge class will add to Gamma Xi as brothers!

Fall quarter was a period of happiness and growth, but also one of loss and reflection. The adjustment to being fully in person after being isolated for so long as well as facing the loss of our SCU community members was difficult to say the least. We just want to reiterate that we are a community, and we will always be here to support one another. As we all take some time to reflect and heal over the winter break, we look forward to the future of the chapter with hope and excitement.

Letter from the President

Before diving into the term, I wanted to start off by thanking the chapter for giving me the opportunity to serve as President. I can confidently say this has been one of the most memorable times of my college experience, and I appreciate all the brothers who helped us transition back into in-person activities! Despite all of the uncertainty we faced, Gamma Xi did a wonderful job stepping in the right direction.

Coming into this term, it was no secret that the transition to full in-person activities would be challenging. With high levels of ambiguity and fresh faces, we wanted to start by re-establishing the tight-knit and driven culture we were able to gain so much from. We did struggle to overcome some obstacles early on, but this term was defined by our resiliency and commitment to maintaining our high standards, and we were successfully able to execute on that.

There is definitely a lot to be proud of, starting with a record-setting recruitment week. That eventually led us to another highlight, helping us welcome 16 passionate individuals through the Alpha Pi pledge class. We were able to connect with extremely valuable industry professionals and alumni along with various social events throughout the quarter, creating a holistic experience.

This was definitely a term to remember, and I have to give credit to the Executive Committee for going above and beyond. It was great having dedicated members by my side each step of the way, and I'm sure that will be the case moving forward. I can't wait to see the strides we'll take next term!

Letter from the Senior Vice President

Serving as Senior Vice President has been one of the greatest experiences of my time at Santa Clara so far. Upon hearing the news of our return in person, I knew I wanted to be the one leading our recruitment to reestablish our presence on campus. My goal was to use the term as an opportunity to bridge the disconnect between the online and in person experience so that as a chapter, we could move forward in our pursuits as a single unit.

With the objective of reigniting and promoting our professional nature, it seemed only fitting that our theme was “Back to Business” as everyone was ecstatic to be able to come back to the way things were before the pandemic. Not only was this reflected by the brothers, but also by the record breaking number of prospective members that came out to recruitment this term. Though the transition back in person presents as many challenges as the transition online did, with 16 brand new Gamma Xi members, the future looks bright. What I’ve learned from this term, however, is that the return in person did not shift everything “back to the way things were”. Instead, we were able to use the experiences of our online era to grow in ways we never could before, and because of this we are stronger and more adaptable than ever. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to kick-start the chapter’s return on campus, and I look forward to seeing how we continue to grow together. Huge thank yous to Keane for all the help with recruitment as VP of Marketing, to all of EC for their hard work that often goes unnoticed, and to Abhi and Yash for being by my side through all good and bad parts of the process. Lastly, massive thank you to all the brothers: thank you for believing in me. I am so proud to call this chapter my family.

Letter from the Pledge Educator

I want to start off by thanking the Gamma Xi chapter for giving me this opportunity to serve as the VP of Pledge Education for the Fall 2021 term. This has been one of the most challenging yet exciting experiences of my life serving the organization that has had the biggest influence on my college career. As a young freshman joining Delta Sigma Pi, I knew I wanted to leave my own mark on the chapter and embarking on this journey with the Alpha Pi’s was the perfect way to close the book. However, with it being the first quarter back in person, this term came with additional challenges that made the process all the more gratifying.

Coming into the pledge process, I wanted to make sure that we placed additional emphasis on the professional development that Delta Sigma Pi embodies while also fostering positive brother-pledge interactions. My amazing pledge team, Marissa and Jordan, and I created a comprehensive pledge program that delved deeply into the world of business but also taught pledges real world skills that they could take advantage of even after graduation. Furthermore, we strived to maintain a delicate balance between work and play with various social and bonding events to nurture genuine friendships that will, hopefully, last a lifetime.

To Marissa and Jordan; I can’t thank you guys enough for the time, energy, and work both of you have put into this program to make it what it was. These two have been absolute pillars throughout the entire process guiding me through tough decisions, taking on projects to lighten my load, while also being infinite resources for the pledges to reach out to. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to have navigated through this journey with. I also want to give a huge shoutout and thank you to Abhi and Ursula who have been a part of this process behind the scenes on a near daily basis. I sincerely appreciate y’all and couldn’t have done this without any of you!

Lastly, to the best pledge class out there (sorry Mu’s) - Alpha Pi’s. I’m grateful to have been able to serve as your pledge educator but I’m even more proud to be able to call you all my brothers. The work each and every one of you has put into this process over the last 3 months has not gone unnoticed and I can’t wait to see what you accomplish in your tenure at Santa Clara and beyond. Love y’all!
